Connections between STEM learning and Civic Engagement have been the focus of SENCER’s work in formal education for almost two decades.  The SENCER approach, which teaches disciplinary content "through" civic problems and challenges, has now expanded to the informal science educational sector through partnerships with museums, aquaria, science centers and the National Park Service.  New partnerships with leaders in all levels of educational institutions are developing general education and workforce development synergies, and collaborations with K-12 educators are forming as emerging state science standards promote the inquiry and problem-solving that have always been at the core of SENCER.  We are looking to expand discussions to see where else and how far we can extend the applications of SENCER approaches across sectors and disciplines, and to make connections and networks for improving learning in all times and places.

Join us and add your ideas and voices to extend the SENCER Connections. Consider making a brief presentation or poster on your work that connects STEM content and Civic Engagement.
