Since 2001, the SENCER Summer Institute (SSI) has provided evidence-based professional development to improve STEM learning while advancing civic awareness and responsibility. SENCER courses and programs teach rigorous disciplinary and interdisciplinary content "through" issues of immediate concern to students, such as climate change, public health, environmental sustainability, data security.

Join us for four days of plenaries, workshops, presentations and consultations by experienced practitioners addressing:

  • Integrative STEM learning
  • Civic Engagement and Curricular change
  • Inclusive teaching
  • High Impact pedagogies
  • Community partnerships

Special tracks and symposia will be offered in Assessment, and SENCER approaches in engineering and k-12 curricula. SSI welcomes faculty and administrators from 2 and 4-year colleges and universities, informal and community-based educators, k-12 faculty, and representatives of educational organizations committed to science education and civic engagement.  We hope you will join what has been designated a "community of transformation in STEM reform."
